We welcome horses and riders interested in pursuing classical dressage and eventing as a sport, hobby and as an art form.
The word farm in our name describes our beautiful 98 acres located in Cherry Valley, New York - 20 miles from Cooperstown, 12 miles from Cobleskill and 50 miles from Albany. We have rolling hills, 40-plus acres of pasture, hay fields, trails, woods and streams.
Our riding facilities include a 120 by 66-foot indoor arena with well-groomed footing and 14-foot height for jumping. We have a 72-foot by 140-foot outdoor arena and airy well-ventilated barns with rubber-matted stalls. Thistle Hill is located on all dirt roads adjacent to acres of state land and protected from development by being located in a "right to farm" county.
Thistle Hill's owner, Rabbit Goody, has been on this farm for 36 years and senior instructor Christine Cornwell has been training and teaching here for over fourteen years. Our staff is professional, relaxed and friendly. We feed four times a day and have both day and night turnout in large pastures. Each horse receives daily quality care.
We provide opportunities for students to show off their skills. Christine Cornwell coaches students at shows and shows horses in training in both dressage and eventing. We can provide trailer transportation to shows for our boarders when needed. Additionally, we offer clinics with Jeff Lindberg of Bishops Gate Farm, Saratoga, NY every month and annual clinics with Eric Horgan.
We do not have "barn hours," so you are welcome to spend time with your horse at any time. Families are welcome to enjoy the farm on or off horses.
