CONSULATIONS FOR MUSEUMS AND HISTORIC SITES

Rabbit Goody is an internationally recognized textile historian who has served as a consultant to major museums, private collections, weavers’ guilds and the film industry.

Services offered include:

  • Dating and identifying textiles in specific collections. 
  • Making recommendations about exhibits, storage and conservation.
  • Helping museum staff to develop appropriate and workable furnishing plans that include historically accurate soft furnishings.
  • Coordinate the use of historically accurate reproductions with original items in an historic site’s collection.

Rabbit is now available for  lectures and consultations via Zoom!  This allows you to avoid travel and per diem charges, and adds flexibility when booking dates.  Please contact us for scheduling and more information. 

She lectures widely and teaches classes on historic textiles as well as directing The Textile History Forum, a national conference devoted to new research and developments in textile history Some of her publications include Woven History.- Techology and Innovation in Long Island Coverlets and the forthcoming Woven Textiles 1640-1850: A Reference Guide for Identifying and Dating Everyday Fabrics as well as articles for Early American Life, Old House Interiors, The Clarion, and Heritage.

She owns, directs and is the designer for Thistle Hill Weavers, a custom mill that has been production historically accurate reproduction fabrics, trim and carpet for over 30 years. You can see the mills work at many historic sites around the country, including:

Fees

Rabbit Goody is available to travel to your site. The per Diem fee is $450, and single lectures in New York State are $250, plus travel expenses. Please contact us for details.
